I believe BigClive has established that one of the terminals is connected to the thermistor on the batteries to tell the tool the battery temperature, and when the pack voltage drops too low it open-circuits it, looking like overheat, and it's up to the tool to stop taking current - hence the MOSFET in the tool.

I have a similar device and on the manual it mentions that the puffing will occur after some time. When that happens, it recommends to open the screw and relief the pressure.

That’s about right. I believe EVE LF105’s (Grade A less than 6 months old) will yield ~111Ah typically. If you buy “Grade A” cells and they just barely pull capacity then you didn’t get Grade A. EVE test report sheets are fairly easy to find online so even if you buy another brand you can get a rough idea of what a Grade A of a specific size should pull….except maybe the LF280K’s…those things are just silly, they all pull over 300Ah each so about 10% above their rating.

Is there a way to turn the backlight or display off?

It will be interesting to see how long these last in every day use once they start showing up with cordless tools and things. They may be safer and better for the environment but it is not worth a dam if they don't last. The good news is I hear they do. Now I want to see it for my self.

So you shouldn't let this sit connected overnight, but then the point is lost - you don't know what the SOC of the battery is. Does it keep the settings of you cut power? I guess so?

It would be nice if it could show consumption in Watt-hours. That says much more about the power being used, than Amp-hours.

Do you have a link for that 4S cell monitor that you show mounted already on the pack?

Honestly, im seeing so many of these reviews but no one is testing the thing as it is rated. The description is saying it can do up to 0.25mm nickel and its important to know whether that is true. Using the included nickel is not of that much use as i have little doubt it will do the bare minimum of what is claimed. It concerns me that so many UA-camrs are getting these and only using the company supplied nickel and their information. Im not expecting insane teating but putting it through its paces a bit more would be better. These "reviews" feel more like a product showcase at times. Be honest, if they blacklist you for honesty then you are doing it right.

Look I charge my battery straight to my solar panel for the last 7 years! So I don’t think so! Y’all lie just to sell products. Need a real honest help by pass all the money making videos. Any long term info on the OLED display on the TS101? I had 2 TS100 and on both the OLED faded out over time. (Probably because OLEDs don´t like the heat...) Does the TS101 still have that problem?

Excellent review! Many don't understand latching to the first reading instead of sampling, and how absurd it is! It also makes this tester inaccurate. Same battery shows different voltage every time. The display will not self-correct because it latches onto the first reading - however random & inaccurate it may be. STAY AWAY FROM THIS THING!

No repair mode on this inexpensive I switched to vapcell s4plus the only thing problem with vapcell is battery resistance but it's doesn't matter on me.

there's not much point balancing LiFePO4 cells below about 3.4v, the discharge/charge curve is so flat.

10 A is only about 0.1C so results would be optimistic. Try measuring capacity at 0.2C, 0.5 C and 1C too.

What was that? I watched 11 minutes of this and still not sure why? Honestly, I thought I'd see the review and perfomance of these vs regular Li-ions or Li-irons. Instead I've got a painfully long (even at 2x speed) co-exploration of sizes and weird voltage measuring. All of this could've been summarized in one sentence. Substance is lacking. 🤷‍♂️.. I'd be infinitely more intrested how Sodium would do in the cold (do some tests when freezing them).. and how it would recover from full discharge (discharge completely see what happens) - both these of these big "advantages" of Sodium, but there is very little proof. Do that!

Sounds like decent equipment performance. Can't see how a swelling cell would move the metal endstop as it is screwed down into the base.

That's an excellent BMS. One of the only ones on the market that does balancing properly! :) The others use a resistive balancing, often even only during a charge. On this large a cell it dont matter how many years a BMS like a Daly try to balance, it cant do jack .... vs JK BMS fixed in one cycle :)

One of those will keep my solar weather station going for quite a while...

Ryobi 18v batteries (actually 21v as they're 5S) have the low voltage cut-off built in the battery so they're much easier to use in DIY projects.

I have a question: Can we link the 2 output - (negativ) or we must take for output - the input - like in your video ?
